The practice of yoga, when curated appropriately, can be especially beneficial for children and young adults. It is a physical practice that is absent of competition or judgement, allowing children to grow in self-esteem, strength, and flexibility in a positive and nourishing environment. Yoga offers a wide range of ways to explore movement regardless of age, background, or physical ability. Aside from increasing concentration and coordination, yoga is fun! And, an inherent principle in the practice of yoga is truthfulness; children learn how to grow in relationship to themselves and others, developing strong ways to express themselves and peaceful ways to work through conflicts. Movement, breathing, and meditation techniques offer tools that can be transferred off the mat and into the daily stresses of life.
